2019 Winners in the Dorset Food, Drink and Farming Awards, we are a charity based in West Moors called Sturts Community Trust and one of our main focusses is our Social Enterprise which consists of 4 different areas. A farm, Market Garden, Deli Kitchen & our Award Winning Gullivers Farm Shop & Kitchen. Our Social Enterprise is inclusive to all with the passion for local, organic and sustainable food and drink and Social Farming that encompasses our vision to open up our facilities for the benefit of the local community. This can mean local people buying our produce, volunteering on the farm or market garden, or utilising one of our allotment spaces.
Our farm is a 90-Acre farm that is farmed Biodynamically, meaning it is viewed as a whole organism and is worked and cared for sustainably. We have mixed farm, with cows, sheep, pigs and hens. We try to grow as much of our own fodder as possible. We also grow a wide range of seasonal vegetables that is then sold at our farm shop and our chef creates some fabulous Seasonal Menu’s built around the Organic vegetables we grow and the Organic meat we rear.
Gullivers Farm Shop & Kitchen is based in West Moors and was opened in October 2015 by Lee Doran & Bethy Doran because we wanted to share more about the Charity and the organic produce we grow and rear with the wider community. We wanted to help support local businesses/producers in the area who work so hard to grow their own business, we also offer workshops, events and want to create links with community groups to establish a hub at our shop for people to simply meet, share and just be together. If you want to help support local and a local Social Enterprise that cares so much about the local community and the environment then come pop in and say hello!
