Can your organisation join the fight against food poverty?

Work with FareShare South West to tackle waste and fight hunger

Right now, nearly 14 million people in the UK are struggling to get enough to eat. That’s 1 in 5 of us.

FareShare South West is tackling hunger head-on, by rescuing good quality, surplus food from growers, producers and suppliers, and redistributing it to people living in poverty across the region.

FareShare South West works with food suppliers of all sizes – from tiny artisan producers to national distribution centres. Last year, their army of volunteers rescued more than 1,300 tonnes of food – enough for over three million meals – and redistributed it to food banks, breakfast clubs, homelessness shelters and other vital services. Once there, the food is made into meals or turned into food parcels for local people most in need.

“The food f DonateFood@faresharesouthwest.org.uk rom FareShare South West brings dignity and self esteem to our clients. We get fresh veg and fruit which we could not afford to buy. There is no way we could run without it – it’s vital.” Dartmoor Community Kitchen Hub

As rates of food poverty soar, millions of tonnes of edible food are still discarded each year – often even before it hits the shelves. Food becomes surplus for dozens of reasons – from a labelling error to a seasonal glut to end of line stock, and everything in between.

FareShare South West can collect surplus food, and receive deliveries into their depots in Bristol or Plymouth. There’s no cost, and they guarantee gold standard food safety and full traceability.

‘Our wonky’ pies are collected each week from our kitchens by FareShare South West. We’ve set ourselves some ambitious waste reduction targets and FareShare South West plays a huge part in helping us meet them, while ensuring our pies reach those that need them the most.” Tristan Hogg, Co-founder & CEO, Pieminister.

To reach more people, FareShare South West needs more food. However big or small your food business is, they want to hear from you.
