DF&D members win big at Dorset Food, Drink and Farming Awards 2020

While the current restrictions prevented any of these very worthy winners from attending a prestigious event to collect their awards, we’re hoping that they are all celebrating at home!

The following members were acknowledged at this year’s awards.

In the Best Farm Shop category, sponsored by Furleigh Estates, Jurassic Coast Farm Shop in Dorchester came out on top.

Drink Producer of the Year saw Dorset Ginger Company being Highly Commended while V.Dorset Delivery were Highly Commended in the Entrepreneur of the Year category and Lizzie Baking Bird in the Community Food and Drink Award.

Speaking of the wider community, the Best Local Food/Drink Delivery Experience was won by DarkBear and Best Dining Experience went to the Half Moon, Melpash. Chef of the Year went to Eric Tavernier at Les Enfants Terribles.

The prestigious Food Producer of the Year award went to The Book and Bucket Cheese Company with Baboo Gelato and From Dorset with Love both earning Highly Commended. The Business Collaboration Award went to Furleigh Estate and Bothen Hill for their Bacchus and Asparagus. Mercato Italiano were Highly Commended for the Bridport Basket.

This year’s Dorset Food, Drink and Farming Hero, sponsored by Dorset Food and Drink, went to Tom Amery of the Watercress Company, the Wasabi Company, Brace of Butchers and Naked Brace, for the work he’s done this year in sustainability, offering free lunches to essential workers during the first lockdown and working with the NHS as part of a health initiative.
