Angelo Fichera has opened an authentic Italian canteen in Institute Road, Swanage Dorset. He was inspired by his Grandmother’s cooking from childhood and hopes that her delicious cooking will be a recipe for success. The chefs are baking bread, pastries and making fresh pasta on the premises. Angelo was trained in Milan in pasta making techniques by top chefs. The new restaurant is designed to be welcoming and comfortable like his Grandmother’s house in Sicily.
The new restaurant serves handmade fresh pizza, pasta and desserts and uses the best ingredients. Peppina uses organic flour for the pasta from Sicily. The pizza is fresh sourdough sold in large slices and The team create regular specials for the weekend as well as typical Italian recipes, carbonara, ragu and pasta alla Norma which is a staple Sicilian vegetarian dish. Peppina serve plentiful antipasto boards, salads and a good selection of Sicilian wine, Dorset craft beer, and Dorset spirits. Their ice cream is supplied by award winning Baboo Gelato in Bridport, Dorset.
The chefs cook the food in front of the customers so they can see exactly what goes into it and how fresh it is. The restaurant caters for lunchtime and evening meals, takeaway, meeting friends for drinks and Sicilian snacks. A warm welcoming relaxed atmosphere has been created, just like home.
