Dorset businesses team up to create “Cheesy” care packages!

The Book and Bucket Cheese Company has teamed up with a number of other local suppliers to create the ultimate cheese lovers care package to help us get through this difficult time.

Having founded the company in 2019, husband and wife team, Peter and Angela Morgan, had a tremendous first year. They were shortlisted for Food Producer of the Year and also won Dairy Producer of the Year as well as working alongside talented chefs including James Golding, Executive Chef at the Pig Hotel Group and Jesse Wells, Head Chef at the Forest Lodge Hotel. Together with these top chefs, the Peter and Angela are developing new cheeses and recipes with cheese being the star ingredient.

The Book and Bucket Cheese Company is still relatively new despite their huge successes. They make a wonderful range of imaginative ewe’s milk cheese from their base on the Cranborne Estate which is inspired by the surrounding countryside. To make their range of cheeses, they use local rapeseed oil, forage wild garlic and source olive brine from fellow local producer, Olives Et Al to add exciting modern twists to the traditional handmade methods they use to create their cheeses.

Talking about the origins of the business, Peter explained: “When I started to make cheese just over eight years ago, I sought the advice of people that had over 120 years’ experience in the industry between them. They each said the starting point was to buy some books and read as much as possible and after that, it is just Bucket Science. Keep playing until you make something you like and you think someone will buy! And that’s how Book and Bucket was born.”

With the outbreak of Covid-19 having such a huge impact on the young company, Peter has looked to work with others within the Dorset food scene to find ways of supporting their vulnerable customers and to find alternative ways to get their products out there. After teaming up with From Dorset With Love, they have now started delivering cheese care packages throughout Dorset.

These hampers include a range of Book and Bucket cheeses along with chutney and crackers from From Dorset With Love in a luxury hamper set which can be ordered via email by sending details to enquiries@thebookandbucketcheesecompany.co.uk

These hampers aren’t the only way Dorset businesses have been working together, Book and Bucket have also been collaborating with their existing customer base to help them diversify and offer delivery services including the award-winning Yellow Bicycle Café, Lizzie Baking Bird, Dorset Ginger and the Dorset Chili Shop.

The Book and Bucket Cheese Company sell their range of cheeses throughout Dorset at a variety of outlets which can be found on their website. The current cheese range includes a Dorset Smoked Halloumi, Feta-style cheese matured in Kalamata Olive brine, a soft cheese with wild garlic forged from the Cranborne Estate and their signature cheese, a wonderful nutty hard cheese created in the manchego style.
