The Dorset Seafood Festival will be returning to Weymouth later this year after being cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Organisers have announced that it will be held over the weekend of the 11th and 12th September.
The festival usually takes place on Weymouth’s harbourside in July and is free to attend. This year’s event, as well as being later in the year, will also feature a ticket system to limit numbers as part of coronavirus safety measures and will have a new venue. The 2021 event will be take place behind the Pavilion Theatre to ensure visitor numbers can be responsibly controlled.
Speaking about the event, organisers said that the ticketing system was the only way they could ensure that visitor numbers could be controlled and the safety of festival goers ensured. Introducing a fee for the first time would offset some of the increased coasts associated with crowd control while also making up for some of the loss in revenue from last year’s event. The event will also raise money for the Fishermen’s Mission.
Dorset Seafood Festival will feature demonstrations from top chefs, live music and fabulous street food, as well as new features that are sure to delight the crowds. Stands and sponsorship opportunities are available, please email stands@dorsetseafood.co.uk.
Tickets are limited and available from now costing at £10 for adults. Head to dorsetseafood.co.uk/book for more information.
