Southbourne Ales started brewing on New Year’s Eve in 2013, since then, the range has expanded to include eight beers, for of which are seasonal.
Based at Poole Hill Brewery, which is also home to a number of other ale and beer varieties. All our craft ales are created in this historic building, which was first built in 1880 and has served Bournemouth and Poole as an Iron Mongers a School for Art and Science and was once the home of the town’s phone system before becoming a Rolls Royce show room. After sitting dormant for 20 years, it became Poole Hill Brewery, the shop front hinting at the building’s beginnings while inside, you’ll find a 20 barrel brewery plant transforming this once neglected property into a beer lovers’ Nirvana.
Southbourne Ales was initially funded through a crowd funding project and since our humble beginnings in 2003, now has 8 beers, four seasonal and can be found in a selection of quality restaurants, hotels, delis, off-licenses and pubs. The range is designed with something for everyone’s tastes and is created in the traditional way. The range is made up of high quality beers with everything from light ale to oatmeal stout.
At Southbourne Ales, they take the sourcing of their raw materials very seriously, making sure to select only the malts from the Britain’s oldest working floor maltings to ensure the high quality of each ale.
Head to our website to find out more about our range and to book a tour of our brewery. We operate tours at weekends and the shop is open throughout the week allowing you to come in and pick up a selection of quality ales. Our drinks are also available online from our digital shop.
Poole Hill Brewery also doubles as an event venue where you can enjoy an evening of entertainment alongside a tasty Southbourne Ale or two. See the full event calendar at poolehillbrewery.com
