Melbury Vale Vineyard lies 1.5 miles south of Shaftesbury just off the A350 at Cann Bridge and is run by the brother and sister team of Clare and Glynn, who took over the site in 2003. We are a small, rural business located within 28 acres of south facing, rolling hillside in the beautiful Stirkel Valley.
The vineyard was planted in 2006 and, with award-winning wines produced from 2010, it was decided to create our own production facility at the vineyard. Our sustainable winery can be found adjacent to the vineyard and has been in production since 2013 producing a variety of wine, liqueur, brandy and cider.
When it came to creating the winery and vineyard, sustainability was the focus. The onsite winery building has a number of sustainable design features including a wild flower meadow roof and rain water harvesting facilities.
Since opening the winery, we receive many visitors each year to learn about growing grapes, making wine and, of course, tasting! Many of our tours include a lunch or cream tea – all using locally-sourced ingredients.
Scheduled public tours take place on Fridays and Saturdays from February until October. Private tours can be arranged for groups at other times. Make sure to check the website to find out more about times and dates.
You can buy our wines, brandy, liqueurs and cider on site, from our website or from a variety of stockists around the region, including shops, restaurants and hotels. As well as delicious drinks, you can also pick up Melbury Vale Gift Vouchers so you can gift your friends and loved ones a chance to visit the winery themselves or choose their own bundles of wines, liqueurs or brandies.
