Pothecary Gin – Breaking tradition with a distinctive, premium quality British Blended Gin

New to the gin market in 2016, Pothecary Gin was created with a passion for organic, handcrafted, artisan produce, and with a great G&T in mind.

The skilful process of distilling each botanical separately yields optimum quality and incomparable aromas and flavours, welcoming an exciting, contemporary gin, that’s both well-balanced and refreshingly individual.

The small batch, artisan gin, is British Blended; each botanical element, having been distilled separately, is then blended to a specific recipe, creating a uniquely aromatic, silky-smooth gin, with each bottle then individually filled, corked and sealed by hand.

Having hand-picked five distinct ingredients from around the world, Pothecary Gin Original, Blue Label, goes against tradition with notes of Lavender, Mulberry and Honey, having carefully distilled and then blended the following produce to create its unique style:

Organic, wild-foraged Juniper from Serbia – with a naturally piney, aromatic quality, the Juniper is rich and warming on the palate.

Organic Lavender flowers from Provence – very aromatic and intense, the lavender is soothing and sensual on the nose, whilst being dry and savoury to taste.

Organic Black Mulberries from Anatolia – evoking a nostalgic aroma of raspberry ripple ice cream, the distilled black mulberries deliver a soft mid-palate with a hint of vanilla and ripe berry aroma.

Organic Lemons from Sicily – after distillation, the dried peels become almost marmalade-like, and fresh peels also add classic freshness and zing.

Organic wild-foraged Tilia flowers from Bulgaria – with attractive aromas of black tea and honey, Tilia also adds a little softness to the palate.

The initial burst of soothing Lavender aromas gives way to refreshing citrus, supported by Juniper, leading to Black Mulberry ripeness in tandem with the black tea and honey scent from the Tilia flowers.
A smooth, Juniper led Gin, with attractive layers of floral Lavender and honeyed Tilia, fresh notes of lemon, and a subtle fruitiness from Black Mulberries.

A Pothecary Gin Refill Station can be found at the Christchurch Confectioner on Christchurch High Street. The initiative is simple, a large kilner jar full of tasty Pothecary Gin can be found at the store, along with refillable bottles and labels, once a bottle has been bought, it can be returned and refilled once empty – saving both money and resources!
