Dorset-based natural Fairtrade tea brand, Clipper Teas, has been awarded six prestigious Great Taste Awards, including three of the coveted two-star awards.
Great Taste is the UK’s largest and most trusted accreditation scheme for fine food and drink, rating and reviewing independent, artisan brands on a one, two and three-star basis judging on taste, regardless of branding or packaging. As such, receiving this accreditation is a sought after and prestigious achievement. The two-star award is given to less than 15% of entrants of the Awards and represents outstanding quality of taste, categorised as ‘above and beyond delicious’. The two-star rating appears on the packaging of award winners and is widely considered to be a key indicator of reassurance of the quality and taste.
Clipper have been making teas in Dorset since 1984 and was the first tea brand in the UK to carry the Fairtrade Mark. They remain the only brand offering an entire range which is Fairtrade and Organic certified. Clipper is fully natural and even uses unbleached tea bags.
From the latest Great Taste accreditation, Clipper Teas has received three two-star awards for their Fairtrade Everyday teabags, Organic Everyday teabags and Gold teabags. Reviewers commented that the tea was: ‘A brisk and bright infusion, big on flavour. A good quality tea producing a bright and fresh liquor.”
As well as the two-star awards, Clipper have also been awarded an additional three one-star awards for their Organic Infusion Wild Berry tea bags, English Breakfast tea bags and Organic Decaf Everyday teabags. Only 37% of all products entered into the Great Taste awards receive any kind of Great Taste accreditation, so to receive these awards is truly an amazing achievement.
