Introducing Langham Vineyard Dorset’s Limited Edition 2022 Vintage Chardonnay

Nestled in the serene Dorset countryside lies Langham Wine Estate, a haven for wine enthusiasts seeking the finest sparkling creations.

Renowned for their world-class sparkling wines, Langham has emerged as a beacon of excellence in the wine industry, garnering accolades such as the prestigious Best Sparkling Wine Producer award at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) in 2020. However, the unveiling of their limited edition 2022 vintage Chardonnay promises to captivate palates and hearts alike.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, Langham’s 2022 vintage Chardonnay stands as a testament to the estate’s commitment to quality and innovation. Head Winemaker Tommy Grimshaw, fuelled by the exceptional harvest of 2022, seized the opportunity to produce a small batch of still wine that reflects the essence of Dorset’s terroir.

Tommy Grimshaw remarked, “Although our main focus is to constantly improve the quality of our sparkling wines, occasionally an opportunity arises to craft a beautiful still wine. The warm 2022 vintage gave us the perfect chance, so we had to take it up. This wine is a pure expression of Chardonnay from our patch of Dorset and will pair perfectly with the seafood this county is rightly so proud of.”

This limited-edition Chardonnay, with only 1143 bottles in existence, embodies exclusivity and sophistication.

Handpicked from select rows in the estate’s Bowling Green vineyard, the grapes undergo a journey of artisanal craftsmanship. Fermented and aged in four used French oak barrels, the wine exudes a delicate oaked taste while retaining its purity and finesse. Furthermore, Langham’s unwavering commitment to sustainability shines through as each bottle is crafted from reused glass, aligning with their ethos of environmental stewardship.

Collaborating with renowned sculptor Simon Gudgeon from Sculpture by the Lakes, Langham Wine Estate unveils a label adorned with Gudgeon’ s iconic ‘Search for Enlightenment’ bronze sculpture. This collaboration not only celebrates artistic synergy but also underscores Langham’s dedication to creativity and excellence.

The wine is named after the sculpture ‘Search for Enlightenment’ by Dorset-based sculptor Simon Gudgeon. It shows a man and woman in contemplation, absorbing great knowledge, at a point of realisation about their place in the universe.

Justin Langham, Managing Director, expressed, “As another Dorset business that we admire greatly, we thought using Simon’s beautiful sculpture on our Chardonnay label offered a lovely synergy. As with Simon’s sculptures, we want our wines to be seen as creative and thought provoking. We are exceptionally proud of this vintage.”

Simon Gudgeon echoed this sentiment, stating, “Working with Langham Wine has been an absolute delight. Their commitment to excellence and passion for their craft aligns perfectly with our own dedication to creating an exceptional sculpture park and visitor experience, a combination that stimulates all the senses.”

Upon indulging in Langham’s Limited Edition Chardonnay, connoisseurs are greeted with a symphony of flavours and aromas.

Pale gold in colour, the wine entices with notes of cantaloupe melon, tangerine, and granny smith apple, leading to a palate of refreshing citrus and a vibrant acidity that lingers on the finish.

Its versatility makes it a perfect companion to an array of dishes, particularly fresh Dorset shellfish or grilled halloumi.

Priced at £23.95, ‘Search for Enlightenment’ is available to buy online from Monday 29th April, here.
