Langham Wine Estates has definitely adapted in the face of adversity over the last few months! As lockdown restrictions began to ease, the team realised that they could make use of their outdoor space and launched, their latest venture: Vineyard Picnics.

The Vineyard Picnics were initially launched in June, with the Langham Wine Estate’s café team creating delicious fresh picnics, full of local produce and boxing them up as individual take away products so that anyone visiting the estate would feel comfortable popping into the tasting room and shop to collect their picnic before heading to the 30 acre vineyard to enjoy.

The idea quickly became more and more popular, leading the team to develop their outdoor seating area further, clearing out a large barn area and upcycling materials they already had into tables, providing visitors with a well ventilated, indoor/outdoor space to enjoy their lunch. The weekly Fizz Friday events have also been making use of this new space, which is proving to be very popular.

Speaking to Dorset Food and Drink, Fiona at Langham Wine Estate, said: “As a result of these changes, we have been busier than ever, going from a small café capacity indoors to being able to safely accommodate many more people than previous years.  We are now looking towards Autumn and Winter and thinking how we might make our barn area cosy for the colder months, whilst still maintaining an indoor/outdoor feel with plenty of airflow going through the barn.”

To keep visitors safe, there is a limit on capacity and opening times at the estate are slightly different. Please check the website for the most up to date information before visiting. In order to help maintain social distancing and to help keep track of visitor numbers, if you do want to enjoy a Vineyard Picnic, please make sure that you pre order your picnic from their website by 4pm the day before your visit.
