About Us:

Under the watchful gaze of the iconic Giant, brewing has once again taken root in Cerne Abbas after a pause of more than 130 years. The revival began with the passion and expertise of founders Vic Irvine and Jodie Moore, whose commitment to tradition and quality shaped the brewery’s identity. Often described as “the modest brewery with Giant integrity,” Cerne Abbas Brewery quickly became a much‑loved gem among locals.

Following Vic’s passing in 2016, the brewery has continued to thrive in the capable hands of Jodie Moore, Danny England and Mark Richardson, supported by a group of enthusiastic local beer lovers who believe deeply in what the brewery stands for.

Today, Cerne Abbas Brewery offers a celebrated line‑up of CAMRA award‑winning beers — including nine ales and two stouts — and has proudly served as the main sponsor of CAMRA’s Beerex Dorchester for over three years. Alongside their regular range, they also produce seasonal brews inspired by former village brewers, local characters, and the surrounding landscape, contributing to the brewery’s growing reputation both within Dorset and beyond.

These beers play their part in strengthening rural tourism too, appearing on menus and shelves in local pubs, tea rooms, farm shops and accommodation providers across the Cerne Valley. The brewery actively promotes these partners through its own platforms, reflecting its belief in community, camaraderie and keeping alive one of Britain’s favourite traditions.

Nestled in the Cerne Valley, Cerne Abbas Brewery collaborates widely with Dorset businesses. Their Watercress Warrior Ale, for example, is created using seeds from a watercress farm in nearby Crossways, while spent barley returns to Manor Farm and Pound Farm in Nether Cerne to feed dairy herds — reducing waste and food miles in the process. Exceptional local ingredients help the team recreate the historic beers once exported from Cerne Abbas to London and New York. With rare chalk‑stream water running just metres from the brewery – one of only 200 such streams worldwide – the site is perfectly placed for brewing outstanding beer.
The brewery’s seasonal Community Hop Ale is another much‑loved tradition, bringing together locals who arrive with their foraged hops to create a one‑off brew that truly reflects the flavour and spirit of the valley.

Hidden away down a sleepy hollow, the brewery bursts into life in its vibrant taproom.
Here, visitors can enjoy the freshest beer straight from the source, alongside regular live music, food, camping, and a lively programme of events and festivals.
