The August Bank Holiday weekend was a busy one for the food and drink producers in Dorset with foodie events taking place all over the county! Unlike last year when events were either postponed or headed online, this August, we were really able to get back to doing what we love – providing people with good quality, locally sourced food and drink!
As well as regular farmers’ markets, the Bank Holiday also saw Christchurch Food Festival and the Stock Gaylard Oak Fair, both of which were hugely successful. Dorset Food and Drink members including: Weymouth 51, Grounded Coffee, Pothecary Gin, Beewrap UK, Deelicious Chilli Jam, Proper by SCT, Shanty Spirit, Smith and Weston, the Real Cure, Viper London Gin, Bridge Farm Cider, The Book and Bucket Cheese Company, Dorset Lamb, Dorset Blue Vinny, Manna Kitchen, Oxford’s Bakery, Taste of the Wild, the Dorset Game Larder and Wriggle Valley Brewery made appearances over the weekend at various events. It was great to see these businesses and more able to get back to doing what they do best – showcasing their products in beautiful Dorset surroundings.
With everything from pop up restaurants to the usual food and drink stalls, Christchurch Food Festival was bigger and better than ever and the organisers are already looking forward to welcoming you all again next August. This year’s Oak Fair at Stock Gaylard, although less of a focus on food and drink, did not disappoint with the line up this year. After having to cancel last year, it was lovely to be able to see the event go ahead, as popular as ever with families and foodies alike.
With food and drink firmly back on the agenda, events around Dorset are continuing to grow as we make our way out of the pandemic. Make sure to keep your eye on our What’s On pages to find out more about local events that are taking place and look out for our updates for the next big event, the Abbotsbury Food Fair, in collaboration with Dorset Food and Drink where a whole host of your favourite producers will be attending.
