Built in 2016 by the Duchy of Cornwall but operated by Hall & Woodhouse, the pub is named after the Duchess of Cornwall at the direct request of the Prince of Wales and was opened by the Prince and Duchess.
The pub contains many artefacts from the Woodhouse family including a Dorset oak bookcase from West Lodge (the Woodhouse family’s home in the 20th century); the great brewing copper that forms the entrance is taken from the King & Barnes brewery which Hall & Woodhouse acquired in 2000. The Badger glass (created by Dorset glassblower Stuart Wiltshire) is the largest hand-blown glass in the world.
The building is split into sections over three floors and is designed around the Woodhouse family and their interests and passions. Downstairs you’ll find the Copper Bar and the Pantry with long bench style seating for a more relaxed experience. Moving up the grand central staircase is the dining room with its open kitchen and then to top it all off, outside is our beautiful terrace, the perfect place to relax on a sunny evening.
