Meet the Hive’s sister Café, The Watch House, sitting right on Chesil and just yards from the sea at West Bay.
The café offers extensive outdoor seating areas with stunning views along the dramatic coastline. Famed for ITV’s Broadchurch, West Bay is a classic harbour town featuring stunning golden cliffs and more amazing views.
A wood-fired oven has pride of place in the café and pizzas are available with a range of traditional and not so traditional toppings alongside fresh seafood and daily specials.
Whether it’s just for a good coffee and a homemade cake or a spectacular seafood platter, the Watch House is a great spot to enjoy the Jurassic Coast in all its glory, or to hunker down on a wild and windy day and enjoy a hot chocolate or a cocktail or two after a bracing walk along the shore.
The Watch House uses locally sourced produce, and more often than not, the crab in your crab sandwich has been brought in by local fishing boats.
Adjacent to The Watch House is the Fossil Shop, which opens each year at Easter, and as the name suggests, has plenty of fossils for sale collected from further along the coast. You might also find a few traditional seaside delights for the children, from buckets and spades to t-shirts and small boards with which to hit the surf!
The Watch House is open every day – and on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the evening.
For Christmas opening times check the main website.
