Dorset to be represented in Great British Bake Off

The contestants have been revealed for the 2021 Great British Bake Off which returns on Tuesday, 21st September on Channel 4.

Maggie, a former midwife from Dorset is among the 12 contestants taking part and is the oldest baker taking part at the age of 70. Don’t under estimate her though, the retired midwife and nurse says that she enjoys canoeing, kayaking and sailing outside of baking – so we’re sure she’ll give the other contestants a real run for their money.

Speaking about her love of baking, Maggie revealed that her favourite thing to make is bread, so we’re excited to see what she creates during the famous Bread Week. Will she get a coveted Hollywood Handshake?

The series was filmed in a Covid compliant environment with the contestants, hosts and crew being in a secure bubble throughout the competition. The series will be hosted by Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas and will be joined by judges Paul Hollywood and Pure Leith.

Look out for Maggie and her fellow contestants in the first episode at 8pm on Channel 4 on Tuesday 21st September, with the episode available on demand at a later date.
