Leakers’ Bakery’s Hot Cross Buns made a quiet return to the online shop a couple of weeks a go, but now that Easter is nearly upon us, the team are starting to shout about it!
All their buns are spiced, fruity and delicious, so order some online now for an Easter treat, either for yourself or a loved one!
Did you know that during the reign of Elizabeth I, a decree was issued forbidding the sale of Hot Cross Buns and other spiced breads, expect at burials, Good Friday and Christmas. As a result, hot cross buns at the time were primarily made in domestic kitchens only. Luckily, buns are no longer forbidden, so we can enjoy them for a much longer period!
If you want some tasty, fresh buns, make sure to order by 8am on a Wednesday for delivery by the weekend.
