Shanty Spirit’s Stormy Seas: A Classic, Reimagined

Hailing from the rugged Dorset coast, Shanty Spirit presents a daring twist on the iconic Dark ’n’ Stormy with their Stormy Seas cocktail.
A far cry from its Bermudian roots, this creation centres on Shanty Spirit’s Barrel Aged Seaweed Spiced Rum, a masterful blend of fourteen premium botanicals matured over oak. Infused with raw Dorset honey, cacao, ginger, and four hand-foraged British seaweeds, the rum delivers a rich, layered flavour profile brimming with warming spice, subtle sweetness, maritime minerality, and oaky umami undertones.

Whilst the traditional Dark ’n’ Stormy offers straightforward comfort, Shanty Spirit elevates the experience with remarkable depth and balance.

Their Stormy Seas isn’t merely a cocktail, it’s a sensory journey, transforming a familiar favourite into something truly extraordinary.

Shanty Spirit invites you to savour this storm of flavour and let it sweep you away.

The Recipe

Fill a tall glass with ice.

Pour in 60ml of Shanty Barrel Aged Seaweed Spiced Honey Rum.

Top with 120ml of ginger beer — it naturally swirls the rum through.

Squeeze in 15ml of fresh lime juice.

Add a few dashes of Angostura bitters across the surface.

Garnish with a lime wedge.

This is no mere “storm in a teacup” –  it’s a tempting tempest in a tumbler. Enjoy!
