Dorset has claimed another moment of global recognition as Langham Wine Estate is awarded the prestigious 2025 IWSC Sparkling Wine Producer Trophy. This international accolade places Langham at the forefront of the world’s sparkling wine producers — triumphing over more than 300 entries from Champagne, Australia, and beyond.
It is the second time Langham has secured the trophy, having first won in 2020. Judges praised winemaker Tommy Grimshaw for his bold yet balanced approach, noting the precision, freshness and innovation shown across the estate’s entire range.
For nearly two decades, Langham has championed a farming-first philosophy rooted in Dorset’s chalk soils and low-intervention winemaking. This award celebrates the dedication of the whole team and the exceptional quality of their sparkling wines.
Langham has also launched a new limited-edition release, Ratafia of England — a sweet mistelle made in collaboration with Capreolus Distillery and crafted from 100 percent estate-grown Pinot Noir. Only 517 bottles are available, with pre-orders now open.
This December, the estate will host a festive calendar of events including Christmas feasts, live music, a Christmas Market curated with Dorset Food & Drink, free tastings, and a special Christmas Eve brunch.
Langham Wine Estate continues to showcase the very best of what Dorset can do — world-class wine made with care, craft and a true sense of place.
A Global Honour for Dorset Sparkling Wine: Langham Wine Estate Wins the 2025 IWSC Sparkling Wine Producer Trophy
Dorset’s reputation for exceptional food and drink continues to shine on the world stage. We are thrilled to celebrate Langham Wine Estate, who have once again brought global recognition home to our county by winning the 2025 IWSC Sparkling Wine Producer Trophy. This prestigious award places Langham at the very top of the international sparkling wine scene, competing against more than 300 producers from Champagne, Australia, and beyond.
It is the second time the estate has earned this accolade, having first taken the trophy in 2020. For Dorset, it is another proud milestone that showcases the skill, commitment, and excellence of our local producers.
Global Recognition for Dorset Craftsmanship
Langham made the shortlist after receiving some of the highest average scores in this year’s International Wine and Spirits Competition. The IWSC Producer Trophies recognise outstanding producers who demonstrate quality, innovation and consistency across their entire portfolio, and Langham’s wines continue to impress some of the world’s most respected judges.
Judge David Kermode praised the estate’s winemaker, Tommy Grimshaw, highlighting the confidence and skill behind his approach. At just 29, Grimshaw has already established a style defined by precision, freshness and balance.
Judges noted his bold introduction of a flor (A thin film of yeast that naturally forms on the surface of wine during aging, especially in sherry production) and oxidative techniques, applauding the way he integrates innovation without compromising Langham’s signature clarity.
Judge Mick O’Connell MW described Langham as “the frontrunner in terms of interest in English wine today,” recognising the estate’s role in redefining what English sparkling wine can be – and adding a sense of cool to a category once dominated by traditional regions.
A Farming-First Philosophy
For nearly two decades, Langham has devoted itself to developing a winemaking style that allows the vineyard to speak naturally. Their approach celebrates Dorset’s Cretaceous chalk soils, low-intervention methods, and the belief that great wine begins in the field long before it reaches the cellar.
Their team, though small, is deeply committed. The 2025 trophy stands as a testament to their resilience, creativity and unwavering dedication to quality. As Langham notes, this international recognition is a milestone that once felt unimaginable – yet it is firmly rooted in the hard work and vision of Dorset people doing what they do best: producing world-class food and drink, done right in Dorset.

Introducing Ratafia of England: A New Release from Langham
Langham Wine Estate has unveiled an exciting new creation: Ratafia of England, a limited-edition sweet mistelle produced in collaboration with Capreolus Distillery in the Cotswolds. This is a rare opportunity to experience an English interpretation of a traditional Ratafia, crafted from 100 percent estate-grown Pinot Noir
This inaugural release consists of only 517 bottles, blending the juice of the 2025 harvest with spirit distilled from the 2024 fruit — both grown on Langham’s chalk-rich soils in rural Dorset. Bottled at 18% ABV and presented in elegant 375 ml tubes, it offers a distinctive expression of the estate’s fruit.
Expect aromas of dried orchard fruit and orange blossom, followed by bright acidity and a gentle black-tea astringency. Ratafia of England is beautifully versatile: serve lightly chilled as an aperitif, pair it with cheese or fruit-led desserts, or enjoy it as a slow, thoughtful digestif.
Pre-orders are now open for delivery from Wednesday 3 December.
