To celebrate the opening of their new cafe kitchen shop, Weymouth 51 are giving away fresh chillies with every order from their online shop that is over £15!
What happens when you mix a background in high-end visual merchandising, a chef who’s rubbed whites with the likes of Phillip Howard and Marco Pierre-White and a shared obsession with the tongue-tingling euphoria of a great chilli sauce?
Answer: Weymouth 51, the fiery Dorset-based family business that’s bringing joy, rather than tears, to the chilli sauce game one drop at a time.
The business’s latest venture comes in the form of a hip and cool industrial unit come upmarket café in the Basepoint, Weymouth. More fitting for somewhere like Harlem, or Hoxton, the Weymouth 51 café is open for coffee all day, lunch Monday through to Friday, 12 – 2 pm and currently doing pop up dinner once a month.
The space can also be booked as a private dining experience that holds life’s great things: impeccable service, electric atmosphere, delicious grub and hot sauce at the core of their ethos.
Food provenance is Mikka and David Tamlyn’s DNA. Given David’s past as a globetrotting chef and Mikka’s Hong Kong roots means between them they have a well-thumbed recipe book of culinary experiences which they combine with a passion for the local larder that is Dorset.
Inventing new sauces, growing Dorset Naga chillies (once the World’s hottest) and serving aged beef that David’s privately hung at Poundbury’s Brace of Butchers for over 6 months – is all part of the daily routine at Basepoint.
Sneak between the groaning chilli plants to find the hottest new spot in Weymouth in the coolest possible setting. With many more adventures to come as the story unfolds. The best part about getting anywhere is the journey!!!
