Based in Poundbury, Elaionaki are a small producer of Extra Virgin Olive Oil obtained solely from their 60 trees, in Pagania, South Pelion, Greece Many of these trees are over 500 years old. In fact, Elaionaki literally translates as a Little Olive Grove, which seems apt considering, their garden only has this small collection of olive trees.
As a 100% natural product, which is derived solely from pressing the olives by purely mechanical methods, it maintains its biochemical properties, including the “good” monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamins (Vitamin E) and antioxidant components, such as polyphenols.
Elaionaki, follow the best practices to produce low acidity quality Olive Oil. The olives are picked, selected and taken to the press within 48 hours. The oil is cold extracted at 27 degrees centigrade. After pressing it is analysed before being shipped to Poundbury to settle where it then gets bottled and labelled.
In November 2019, we produced 360 kilos of excellent, cold pressed very low acidity extra virgin olive oil which has a light, fruity taste and peppery finish. Extra Virgin olive oil is <0.8% and this is 0.3%. Knowledge of the value of olive oil has increased significantly in the last few years and there is now documented scientific data regarding its health benefits. The parameters for olive oil quality are set by EEC Regulation 2568/91 (1991) and the FDA allowing producers of olive oil to place a health claim on its products. To make sure our olive oil is as healthy as it can possibly be, we use no pesticides in the cultivation of our olives. Elaionaki Single Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil is available in 500ml and 250ml green bottles, as well as in 2.5 litre cans if ordered in advance, and is sold at events and festivals and from home, given notice.
